Introducing the Queen of bold yet elegant style, hailing from the city of Melbourne – Jess Alizzi.

The fashion curator and style icon was kind enough to share her highly treasured thoughts and insights with us all!

We asked her a few questions relating to her style, as well as what she looks for in a label and her garments…

What is your current favourite item in your wardrobe and why?

I love so many things in my wardrobe, but probably at the moment my favourite piece is my chain pouch from Bottega Veneta.

What draws you to a label/ what makes an emerging label stand out from others?

A unique perspective, a distinct aesthetic and an eye for designing pieces that we never knew we needed in our wardrobe but now feel like we can’t live without – I think brands like Orseund Iris and Paris Georgia are amazing examples of this.

What is the most important quality in a garment for you?

The most important quality in a garment for me is definitely comfort and quality. I like pieces that wash well and that I can keep in my wardrobe for many years, so typically try stay away from materials that I know wont last. I also pretty much always choose comfort over anything, especially this year. I find if an outfit isn’t comfortable and easy to wear, I just end up neglecting it in my wardrobe.

What is your best styling tip?

I have a few – dress for your body shape and for your own personal style, do not wear something just because it is ‘cool’ or ‘trendy’, wear it because you absolutely love it and you feel your most confident and comfortable self in that outfit. Also, don’t feel like you need to define your personal style, dress to suit your mood that day – and don’t be afraid to make mistakes, take risks with your outfits – it is only by doing this that you will find what it is you really love and feel the most YOU in.
